Originally, I purchased the audio book, but I liked it so much I went out and bought a real copy. This book is great if you want a better understanding of how fear can influence a person and society. As the subtitle suggests, Daniel Gardner reveals how the culture of fear can manipulate a person, which may cause them to react in ways that, many times, are not for the best. With this book, you will learn that when fear steps in, all logic can go right out the window very fast.

All I can say, for now, is that this book is mind-opening!

This book makes sense on so many levels, and I can see why it’s a work of study for so many people around the world. This is a book I plan to reread many times over. The part that sticks in my mind the most is the idea of practicing the moral law. If more leaders would employ this in the U.S., we would have a much stronger nation.

I just finished reading this with my daughter, and we would both like to read it again and again. What more could you want in a book? From the beginning the story was exciting, cleverly written, and it gripped our attention, and that was how it went throughout the entire book. It is not a gory or horrifying Clive Barker read, but like Ray Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes, it will satisfy the imagination of your inner child. Books like this are why I grew up to love the horror genre as a boy, and why I will continue to until my dying day.

In my opinion, this is an amazing work of art, for sure!

With that said, however, I do feel like parts of the story was cut too short. In fact, maybe it just feels to me like parts of the story was lacking completely. As someone who grew up doing farm work, for extra money during the summers, it felt to me like John Steinbeck had completely forgot to write about the sweat and blood that it takes to do that kind of work. He ran the story around men doing work on farms, but he never dug into the the physical act of actually doing the work, which would have taken up most of the men's time during the day. Other than that, though, as I said, this book was well crafted and is an amazing work of art. It is worth reading several times over.

These three books were my favorite reads as a child in elementary school! I have always enjoyed a good scare, and I can remember reading these over and over in my dimly lit room at night before bed. The stories were spooky and the artwork was, and still is, captivating.

If you love playing guitar, and you have an open mind, this book is worth its weight in gold!

Bruce Lee had so much vision, and there is so much to learn within the pages of this book! It is more than just a book on fighting technique. You could return to this book for the rest of your life and I believe you can learn something new about yourself and about life in general.

I really liked this book back in high school; it is entertaining and informative!

This book is one of my all-time favorite reads! Like much of Edgar Allen Poe's work, I can read this book over and over without ever tiring of it. Hunter S. Thompson has so much energy and color to his writing that you can read Fear and Loathing 100 times over and you will still pick up something new you didn't notice before.

This book creeped me out so much when I was a kid that I wouldn't keep it in my room! Now that I am much older, I keep it on my writing desk at all times. This book of short stories is unique and thought provoking, with a sinister twist of the macabre. It's because of books like this that I am proud to dedicate my life to the horror genre.

Of course this book was very insightful, King has written books like a madman for a very long time! I found much sound advise and inspiration in this book, and I'd recommend it to every writer, no matter what the genre. I would also recommend it to those of you that like to read stories about overcoming adversity. I know I do!
